Michael Crocker is the founder and director of the Sexuality, Attachment and Trauma Project. He serves on the board of the Advanced Clinical Education Foundation. He's an active member of the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health and the American Association for Psychoanalytic Clinical Social Workers as well.

Therapists Wanted for Columbus Circle Practice

JOB DESCRIPTION

Many of our clients struggle with out-of-control sexual behavior or their relationship to sexual imagery. We are looking for psychotherapists with 2 – 5 years of clinical experience to support them. While we’d like you to have at least one degree/license from the list below, of equal importance is that you are an empathetic and open person with a strong desire to engage and learn.

Applicable degree/license: LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LP.

We want our staff to reflect the diversity of our city and serve the needs of as many communities as possible. BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clinicians are strongly encouraged to apply. We are looking for team members who are BDSM and kink-knowledgeable as well as LGBTQ-friendly. Bilingual skills are a plus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of our team, you’ll provide affirming care for clients who need support around sexual behavior, sexuality, and gender identity. This might include BDSM, Kink, CNM, out-of-control sexual behavior, dependence on sexual imagery as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship conflicts. You’ll have opportunities for research and continuing education as well as mentoring through group and individual supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

You are an ideal candidate if you have field placement and work experience in the areas of attachment, trauma, and sexuality. And if your treatment approach is psychodynamic with an interest in attachment theory, affect regulation theory, and sexuality and trauma-informed treatment. Those trained in AEDP, EFT, EMDR, IFS and/or Psychoanalysis are encouraged to apply.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

The SAT Project is structured to help our staff develop their areas of practice. Previous team members have taught on the graduate level, at conferences, and as part of The SAT Project's Continuing Education Program. Some have moved on after a few years and started their own private practice. On occasion, we have provided team members with the necessary client and supervision hours to achieve their certification as clinical social workers.

LOCATION

Our offices are located in the heart of Columbus Circle in New York City and you’ll have access to the gym in the building.

A Little Bit About The SAT Project

WHAT WE DO

We are sex and gender therapists who provide identity-affirming care for all communities.

We help people overcome a range of sexual issues including, sexual compulsivity, hypersexual behavior, intimacy anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, gender and orientation confusion, and childhood sexual abuse. In addition to psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups, we provide support for the partners of those who struggle with out-of-control behaviors.

The SAT Project is a continuing education provider. We are also active in having research and academic articles published. Some team members are organizational psychologists and provide workplace interventions and programs as well.

We’re committed to helping our clients change their dissociative patterns and relieve the cycle of shame that so often accompanies out-of-control behaviors.
