JOB DESCRIPTION
Would you like to help patients rediscover their connection to joy, play, and intimacy? The SAT Project is looking for psychodynamic therapists to treat clients struggling with sex addiction and porn addiction as well as anxiety, depression, and trauma. And to help couples address conflict in their relationships, or who find it challenging when one partner feels more sexual than the other.
At SAT, we don’t judge or pathologize the sexual behavior of our patients. We are fervent advocates for shame reduction when treating out-of-control sexual behavior. Childhood trauma informs our work, as we’ve seen firsthand how emotional neglect impacts sexual behavior and relationships in adulthood.
If you are passionate about what you do, we want to hear from you.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
The SAT Project is intentionally structured to help you develop and grow. We provide mentoring through group and individual supervision. Associates are empowered to find trainings that resonate with their interests and bring that knowledge back to the team. You’ll have opportunities for adjunct professor work, to teach workshops, and to publish. Learning is a primary focus of our organization. Whether you’ve had one year or thirty years of training, becoming a therapist isn’t the end of education; it is only the beginning.
REQUIREMENTS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
You are an ideal candidate if you have field placement and work experience in attachment, trauma, and sexuality. We are looking for clinicians with a psychodynamic approach and an interest in attachment theory. Training in AEDP, EFT, EMDR, IFS and/or Psychoanalysis is a plus. We love meeting people with diverse work experiences. Candidates in their second careers are strongly encouraged to apply.
COMPENSATION
LOCATION
Our offices are located in the heart of Columbus Circle in New York City and you’ll have access to the gym in the building.

A Little Bit About The SAT Project
We are sex and gender therapists who provide identity-affirming care for all communities. We help people overcome a range of sexual issues including sexual compulsivity, intimacy anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, gender and orientation confusion, and childhood sexual abuse.
We believe sexual acting out is a symptom not the problem, often as a result of early childhood trauma. We don't label clients or pathologize their sexual behaviors as we're keenly aware of the damaging effects of shame. We promote lasting change by working collaboratively with patients to help them understand their sexual behaviors as part of their larger expansive exploration of self. As a team, we foster a collaborative environment of mutual respect and support for one another. We value diversity and inclusion. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity or expression, or marital status. |
Are You the Right Person for the Job?We'll be meeting candidates over the next 1 - 2 months. The process will include interviews with Michael Crocker and Shaun Peknic as well as some of the other team members. If you're ready to get started you'll be prompted to fill out an online application form. |
